There is strong momentum behind having open standards and open goverance for accelerator software development. There is a lot of exciting news for open accelerator development, including UXL, new Intel tools (2024.0), a second edition of the SYCL book (released a few weeks ago). Many companies and institutions are coming together to help realize true open standards and software for accelerators. The drive for open and portable programming methods for accelerators has recently been boosted by the announcement of the Unified Accelerator Foundation (UXL) as part of the Linux Foundation. Intel has long been promoting this concept, and Intel continues to support these efforts strongly. James will discuss numerous exciting development for accelerator programming, placing them in context for today and the upcoming year.
